We’re circling the north part of Calgary, as we head to Ward 3 next, a seat last held by Jasmine Mian.

Mian, a first-term councillor who opted not to run again this election, won fairly handily in 2021 with 7,262 votes over second-place challenger Brent Trenholm (4,970).

There are eight candidates competing to represent the ward this time around, with two of the three municipal parties being represented.

Ward 3

Ward 3 shares the northernmost boundary of the city with Ward 2 and is home to 12 communities. There are four new communities and eight mostly developed communities in the ward.

According to the 2021 federal census, Ward 3 is home to 85,675 citizens. With Calgary’s substantial population growth over the past four years, and the new communities being brought online in Ward 3, it’s likely the population is substantially higher.

There are eight candidates in this ward:

Rajesh Angral – Independent

Atul Chauhan – The Calgary Party

Taran Dhillon – Independent

Christy Edwards – A Better Calgary Party

Jaspriya Johal – Independent

Danny Ng – Independent

Siraaj Shah – Independent

Andrew Yule – Independent

Survey says!

LWC received surveys from five of the eight candidates. We did not receive responses from Taran Dhillon, Christy Edwards or Siraaj Shah.
