Calgary Stampede Day 2 wrap: Hot, hot, hot – Rodeo, chucks and attendance

Visitors continued to flock to the Calgary Stampede on Saturday, with another big crowd on hand.
Calgary was under a heat warning – and remains in one Sunday – but that didn’t stop tens of thousands from hitting the Calgary Stampede grounds. Recorded attendance for July 8 was 138,781, bringing the aggregate total for 2023’s Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth to 339,467.
It was also a toasty one at the Calgary Stampede rodeo grounds on Saturday, with temperatures sizzling in the corral.
The stock got the best of many cowboys on the day, with only three of 10 riders managing a score on the rankest bulls, while half the cowboys logged no time in tie-down roping.
