Miss the Canada Day fireworks for 2023? LWC has got you covered.

After initially being cancelled in favour of a pyrotechnics show at Fort Calgary as part of the Canada Day celebrations downtown, the fireworks returned for their annual show after Calgary City Council pushed for the return in late May.

The fireworks were set off from Stampede Park, eschewing past locations like Calgary City Hall, the Calgary Tower, and Centre Street Bridge.

Not every Calgarians was able to see the fireworks this year. A traffic incident prior to the show at 11 p.m. on Macleod Trail blocked the intersection on the south end of Stampede Park, creating long lineups of cars trying to make some of the popular viewing locations.

The park itself was also closed, owing to the final setup days for the Calgary Stampede.
