Partner Content: Your lease includes Farmers’ Market cash

Calgary Farmers’ Market West is the perfect place to spend a slow Saturday morning in Northwest Calgary. It’s just steps away from Brooklyn, a brand-new rental community at 205 Greenbriar View NW. We found out that when you sign a lease at Brooklyn, Highstreet (the developer) will give you up to $500 (depending on suite type) to spend at the market.

Everybody loves the farmers market, so we caught up with Kyle Lethbridge, Community Services Manager at Highstreet, to learn more about how the incentive works and what’s going on at Brooklyn.

What Are Market Bucks?

Market Bucks are gift certificates for the Calgary Farmers’ Market that you can use like cash at any vendor at either the Northwest or South location.

We asked Lethbridge to explain Brooklyn’s offer: “Community members signing a new lease agreement can receive Calgary Farmers’ Market gift certificates, also known as Market Bucks, available in denominations of $5, $10, and $20. The current offer is $500 for a two-bedroom suite and $250 for a one-bedroom suite. “

Market Bucks never expire, but here’s the catch: they’re only available while supplies last.

Life in Northwest Calgary

Brooklyn sits in the Greenwich Village area of Northwest Calgary, just off Highway 1 on the city’s western edge. Calgary Farmers’ Market West is a three-minute walk away: a year-round destination with over 60 vendors, a food hall, events, and a kids’ zone. Calgary Olympic Park is right down the road, too, with skiing, mountain biking, a tube park, and other adventures depending on the season.

For getting around, Stoney Trail, Trans-Canada Highway 1 and Sarcee Trail are all close by, which keeps commutes and errands predictable. Nearby bus routes connect to CTrain lines and the rest of the city. And since you’re on Calgary’s western edge, a mountain day trip is easy to pull off.

The People Behind Brooklyn

Community leader Jude Nabigambo leads operations at Brooklyn, working alongside Irah, the Assistant Community Leader. Tristen has also joined the team as a dedicated Leasing Agent on-site.

“The Community leaders manage operations at Brooklyn by helping ensure the community is clean, safe, and functioning well,” explains Lethbridge.

“While Tristen is there to make the leasing experience as easy as possible.”

The building has dedicated on-site staff, which leads to incredible response times if you experience any issues.

When we asked what the response time actually means in practice, Lethbridge gave an example: “A new community member discovered that her washing machine was not working shortly after move-in. Irah quickly coordinated with the construction team on site to have the unit swapped out right away.”

People just began moving into Brooklyn this spring.

“Move-ins have been exciting, rewarding, and at times challenging,” says Lethbridge. “Community Members have been very impressed by how quickly any issues are getting addressed and resolved. On the leasing side, applicants usually receive their approval within 24 hours of applying.”

Come See It This Weekend

You can visit Brooklyn without an appointment every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or on Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. If those times don’t work, you can book an appointment for another day.

A larger open house event is scheduled for July 4th. Those visiting can expect to meet knowledgeable, professional, and friendly staff who will guide them through a tour of the community. There will be snacks and refreshments, along with incentives for anyone who completes an application, and additional incentives for those who sign a lease within a specified time period. The market is hosting a stampede breakfast this day (on July 4th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.). This is a great time to stop by after the market to see what Brooklyn has to offer.

What Brooklyn Has to Offer

Studios, one- and two-bedroom suites are available now, starting from $1,566* per month with one month rent-free on a 13-month lease. Inside, suites come with quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and in-suite laundry. Triple-pane windows and individual heating and cooling mean you control your own temperature and aren’t at the mercy of a building-wide system. Covered balconies are included, too.

Having Community Leaders on site provides residents with a strong sense of comfort and confidence, knowing there is someone available to address issues quickly and help create a welcoming, well-supported living environment.” — Kyle Lethbridge

The community building has a lounge, fitness centre, games area and outdoor BBQ space. Fob-secured entry, security cameras and an underground parkade are also part of the building. Brooklyn is pet-friendly: cats and dogs under 22 inches are welcome (some breed restrictions apply), with up to two pets per suite. Rent includes amenities access. Community members pay their own electricity, water and internet.
