Two separate SE Calgary shootings Sunday leave one dead, one injured

Calgary police are investigating two separate shootings in the city’s southeast Sunday, including one that left a man dead.

Around 4:40 a.m. Sunday, Calgary police were called to the Ambassador Restaurant and Bar at 3504 – 17 Avenue SE in Radisson Heights for reports of gunshots.

When officers arrived, they found a man that had been shot and they began medical care. That victim died at the scene, police said.

Witnesses said they saw a person flee the scene. That person is being described as being around 30 years old, 6’2” with medium build and short black hair.

The Calgary police continue to interview witnesses and are searching for any closed-circuit video footage of the crime scene area.

There is an autopsy scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

In the second incident, 14 hours later, police were called to Penbrooke Meadows after reports of two cars exchanging gunfire.

Around 7 p.m., witnesses reported seeing two cars firing at each other in the 5500 block of 8 Avenue SE.  When officers arrived, they found one of the vehicles involving in the shooting and a man that had been shot.

He was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The second vehicle involved in the shooting fled the scene. Police said they don’t believe this was a random incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed either shooting or who was in the area of the shootings is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
