As a true sign of fall (along with the skiff of snow), it’s Thanksgiving weekend in Calgary.
There’s multiple facility closures and changes to Calgary Transit hours you’re going to want to be aware of if you’re out and about this weekend with your family.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s going on this Thanksgiving weekend in Calgary:
Recreation Services
Free public skating from 1 to 2:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14 at:
- Ernie Starr Arena (4808 14 Avenue S.E.)
- Frank McCool Arena (1900 Lake Bonavista Drive S.E.)
- Murray Copot Arena (6727 Centre Street N.W.)
- Optimist and George Blunden Arenas (5020 26 Avenue S.W.)
- Rose Kohn and Jimmy Condon Arenas (502 Heritage Drive S.W.)
- Shouldice Arena (1515 Home Road N.W.)
- Stu Hendry and Henry Viney Arenas (814 13 Avenue N.E.)
- Stu Peppard Arena (5300 19th Street S.W.)
Golf courses scheduled to be opened, weather permitting:
- Confederation
- Lakeview
- Maple Ridge
- McCall Lake
- Shaganappi
Southland Leisure Centre and Village Square Leisure Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Southland Leisure Centre’s arena will offer Sticks, Pucks
and Rings from noon to 1:30 p.m. and public skating from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Regular admission applies. - Village Square Leisure Centre’s arena will offer Sticks, Pucks
and Rings from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. and public skating from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Regular admission applies.

Aquatic, recreation and fitness facilities closed on Monday, Oct. 14. include:
- Acadia Aquatic & Fitness Centre
- Beltline Aquatic & Fitness Centre
- Bob Bahan Aquatic & Fitness Centre
- Canyon Meadows Aquatic & Fitness Centre
- Inglewood Aquatic Centre
- Killarney Aquatic & Recreation Centre
- Renfrew Aquatic & Recreation Centre
- Shouldice Aquatic Centre
- Sir Winston Churchill Aquatic & Recreation Centre
- Thornhill Aquatic & Recreation Centre
North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Arts Centres are closed. The Calgary Soccer Centre, Arenas and Athletic Parks are open for advanced bookings only.
Calgary Transit
Calgary Transit will be adjusting service over Thanksgiving Weekend. They will be running Sunday level service on
On Saturday, Oct. 12 the Blue Line will be closed between 69 Street and Sirocco Stations. Shuttle busses will replace CTrain service between close stations. Buses will run every 10 minutes.

Parking
On-street parking is free on Monday, Oct. 14. Holiday rates, however, are in effect at select Calgary Parking Authority surface lots and parkades.
Regular rates are in effect at the Calgary Zoo, TELUS Spark and Heritage Park.

City Facilities
All the City of Calgary administrative buildings, like City Hall, will also be closed Monday Oct. 14.
