In the Battle of Alberta, Calgary is making gains on the fast food franchise front, even encroaching into enemy territory.

Peter’s Drive-In – Calgary’s iconic burger joint – confirmed to LiveWire that it’s expanding into Oilers territory.

The drive-in burger joint that has been in Calgary since 1964 says it will be opening a location in Edmonton at 51 Ave and Calgary Trail.

“We are working with the City of Edmonton to satisfy all regulatory requirements and we anticipate opening in the Fall of 2019, or early in 2020,” said a spokesperson in an email.

The Edmonton location will have a drive through, indoor seating and an outdoor dining area.

Peter’s already has a location in Red Deer on Gasoline Alley.

The Calgary location on 16 Avenue and 2 Street NE has been a popular stop for Calgarians for the past 50 years.
