The second annual Powwow will be a place for all nations and community members to gather, celebrate, participate, and learn about Indigenous culture and traditions.

The gathering will include a full-contest traditional dance component. Dancers across Alberta and beyond are welcome to participate in the event; no registration is required this year. We are thrilled to announce that Sorrel Rider (Siksika) will be the Host Drum alongside invited drum groups Eya Hey Nakoda (Stoney Nakoda), Pipestem Kreek (Tsuu T’ina), and Blackfoot Confederacy (Treaty 7 Area).

A Powwow celebration is powerful and can unite people from all Nations to celebrate identity, relationships, and cultural practices. Through songs, drumming, and dancing, Powwows offer a safe space for healing. The power of the drum represents the heartbeat of a person and community; it helps us build a connection to ourselves and the natural world around us.
