A boil water advisory is in effect for roughly 100 homes in southwest Calgary, as water main repairs are going on in the area.
On Friday evening, AHS ordered the City of Calgary to issue the Boil Water Advisory for the homes located in the community of Eagle Ridge and Heritage Park.
According to the City of Calgary, city crews began a repair on the water main that supports both of the aforementioned areas.
During the repairs, there was an unanticipated depressurization of the pipe, and the City can’t guarantee the water quality.
To expedite the completion of repairs, all southbound lanes of 14 Street SW between 75 Avenue SW and Heritage Drive SW are closed until further notice.
City of Calgary crews will be working extended hours over the weekend to complete the repairs and restore a southbound lane.
The work is not related in any way to the Bearspaw South feeder main.
According to AHS, all residents within the affected area are advised to bring all tap water to a rolling boil for one full minute prior to any consumption, including:
- Drinking, including coffee and tea
- Cooking
- Brushing teeth
- Cleaning raw foods
- Preparing infant formula or juices
- Making ice, etc.
In-home water filters are not sufficient, and water in them must still be boiled before use.
