Calgary police have charged two people in an alleged scheme at area Costco stores to obtain high-value items at lower costs.
According to police, District 6 officers arrested a man and woman after receiving reports that more than $30,000 has been lost from Costco store locations over a period of three months.
On April 24, police were informed of an unknown woman who was suspected of making fraudulent purchases from multiple Costco locations in Calgary and the surrounding area.
After an investigation, police learned that between April 9 and June 30, the accused allegedly used altered or fraudulent UPC codes assigned to lower-cost items to get high-value items like computers, TVs, gaming consoles and sound equipment.
Police also believed that a man was also involved in the fraudulent transactions.
On Aug. 1, 2026, Calgary police executed a search warrant in the 0-100 block of Cornerbrook Manor NE, and two suspects were arrested.
Police seized 302.4 grams of methamphetamine, digital scales and packaging materials, instruments for forgery and fraud, including: credit card manufacturing equipment, credit card scanners, card skimmers, 31 credit cards, two 65-inch televisions, two receipt printing machines and other items.
“This investigation demonstrates the significant impact that fraud can have on individuals and businesses in our community,” said District 6 Insp. Scott Neilson of the Calgary Police Service.
“Fraud offences are often complex and can involve numerous victims and substantial financial losses, and we want to thank the affected businesses for coming forward. We want to remind Calgarians to remain vigilant, protect their personal information and report suspicious activity to police.”
Aaron Lee Head, 39 is facing 119 charges in connection with the investigation. Kristie Marie Constantinoff, 41, is facing 70 charges.
