Sunday night at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a house fire on 200 block of Hawkstone Drive in Hawkstone.
Upon arriving with 9 fire trucks and over 20 firefighters, authorities encountered light smoke in the area and found two people injured. One was seen on arrival, the other was discovered near the active fire at the rear and back deck of the house.
The firefighters were able to bring the flames under control and extinguished the fire. Both injured people were assessed at the scene and transported to the nearest hospital by EHS ambulances.
“The Calgary Police Service were quickly on scene and worked with crews to assess the cause of the fire,” reads a CFD media release.
“At this time, the incident has been turned over to CPS for further investigation.”
The cause of the fire is still unknown and remains under investigation.
