Day 4 of the 2026 Calgary Stampede brought with it some of the most pleasant weather of this year’s Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, and there was a little bump in attendance to go with it.
Day 4 saw 100,977 hit the gates, which was a bump up over the 2025 figures, bringing the cumulative Calgary Stampede 2026 total to 591,983. Still, overall attendance is slightly down from last year.
There’s still lots of Stampeding left to do, and some big free entry days coming up, paired with exceptionally good weather over the next seven days.

The biggest shift of the day came in the rodeo arena: Pool A’s competitors — including bareback standout Garrett Shadbolt and 10-time world champion Stetson Wright — wrapped their three-day run, and Pool B’s 30 new competitors took over the chutes at GMC Stadium for the first time this year across all of the events.
In bareback, Roedy Farrell from Themopolis, Wyoming scored an 87.5 aboard Side Show to capture the day money. Gunnison, Colorado’s Coleman Shallbetter matched that 87.5 with a saddle bronc ride atop Business Girl to score the $7,000 payday. On the bulls, Noah Lee from Mineral Wells, Texas, locked up the day prize with a 90.5 aboard Shaboozie.
In the timed events, Carlee Otero from Perrin, Texas, squeaked out a win in ladies barrel racing, only doing so by one one-hundredth of a second. There was only six one-hundredths between first and fourth place in the Day 4 event.
Cheyanne McCartney from Kingston, Oklahoma, bested Caitlyn Dahm from Duffield, Alberta, by a half second to win Monday’s breakaway roping event. In tie-down roping, Brushton Minton from Witter Spring, California, went 7.1 to grab day cash, and in steer wrestling, Ty Erickson from Helena, Montana, and Dalton Massey from Hermiston, Oregon, both hit the dirt in 4 seconds flat to split the top two prizes.

The Rangeland Derby produced the fastest run of the meet so far. Jamie Laboucane, driving the Panorama Advisory Group outfit, posted a 1:10.74 to win his second nightly fast-time award, edging Chanse Vigen by nearly a quarter-second (1:10.97).
The result put Laboucane back atop the four-day cumulative standings, with Rae Croteau Jr. just over half a second behind in second, defending champion Vigen third, and Chad Fike climbing to fourth.
In the Enmax relay races, Crazy Cree continued its crazy streak, snapping the fastest time of 3:08.42 to build its lead in the standings.
Monday brought the debut of the Calgary Stampede Powwow at the Scotiabank Saddledome, featuring dancers and drummers and free with Park admission, along with Tsuut’ina Nation Day at Elbow River Camp.
The evening show recognized Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans, first responders, and healthcare workers as part of “Homegrown Heroes.”
Also worth noting that the Heavy Horse Show concluded Monday, and it was celebrating its 140th year at the Calgary Stampede, making it the longest-running agricultural event on the grounds, and the oldest one in North America.
Looking ahead to Day 5 at the Calgary Stampede (Tuesday, July 7):
It’s TC Energy Community Day, and there’s free admission for everyone between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Temperatures will climb to the mid-20s, so be sure to stay hydrated and find some shade if you need it.
The Powwow continues at the Saddledome for its second and final day.
The headline music lineup for July 7 includes Deadmau5 at the Coca-Cola Stage (9:30 p.m.), Brett Kissel at the Big Four Roadhouse (9 p.m.), and ERNEST at Nashville North starting at 10:15 p.m.
