It’s big eating year on the Calgary Stampede Midway, with 68 new food and drinks – from the gourmet to the gooey – landing at this year’s Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.

The annual showcase of new gullet busters was announced by the Calgary Stampede on Thursday morning, 50 days in advance of the 10-day event.

The food options available at this year’s Midway top previous years’ selections, giving Stampede-goers more than just your typical corn dog, pizza slice, or lemonade (you can still get those, of course).

The Area 51 Taco Burger from The Burger Joint caught our eye, as did the Chili Cheese Corn Dog from Libbertt’s Corn Dogs. The Hash Brown Ice Cream Sandwich from Drink a Fruit piqued our interest, too.

Those guests with a sweet tooth will be heartily rewarded with such treats as the Gluten Free Fried Oreos from the Gluten Free Factory, or a twist on a classic Stampede treat, Chocolate Pistachio Cheesecake Mini Donuts from Ogopogo Artisan Mini Donuts, or the Cookies N Cream Korean Dog.

To wash it all down, the Coke Caesar from Covet Sips could be a real hit, along with the Cotton Candy Cowgirl from Dirty Sodaz.

“Every year our exhibitors push the boundaries, spending months developing imaginative and unexpected dishes exclusive to the Midway,” said Ashley Warner, Midway Manager at the Calgary Stampede, in a media release.

“It’s about delivering outrageously bold, fun and irresistible creations that give guests new ways to experience the excitement, creativity and spirit of the Calgary Stampede.”

Of course… there’s more. The Maki Sushi Corn Dog, the Ramen Donut, Spam Fries (mmmm…) and the Butter Chicken Birria Tacos.
