Time to get excited, Calgary basketball fans. The Surge has revealed its 2026 schedule, the first announcement of many ahead of their May season start.

After a finals loss in their most successful season to date, the Calgary Surge are moving on from their “TRILOGY” season, which earned them Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) honours as Franchise of the Year, and gearing up for their fourth season in the city, dubbed “OVERDRIVE.”

Before their home opener at WinSport Event Centre on Thursday, May 28, the Surge will open their 2026 season with three games on the road, starting against the Ottawa BlackJacks on Tuesday, May 12.

“Building on the momentum of ‘TRILOGY,’ we’re shifting into ‘OVERDRIVE’ with a relentless focus on basketball excellence, fan experience powered by great art and entertainment, as well as continued community impact,” said team president Dylan Howe, in a statement.

“Our team will play with urgency as we chase our first CEBL championship and bring even more energy to the Calgary
community.”

The regular season will feature 24 games, 12 at home and 12 on the road, ending on Aug. 3. Following the regular season, the new look playoff format will begin with a single-elimination conference semifinals on Aug. 6, followed by single-elimination conference finals on Aug. 8, with higher regular season seeds hosting each round.

Ditching the four-team, host city format, the league will play a full in-market, best-of-three CEBL Finals series, the first multi-game series in league history.

After a neutral site game, Saddledome game and Stampede game in 2025, no official marquee game announcements have yet been made, though several are expected in the coming weeks, according to the team. No official roster announcements have been made for the team.
