Calgary police are investigating two separate deaths over the past 48 hours, one in the northwest and one in the southwest.

In Canyon Meadows, Calgary police have now charged 52-year-old Tonnya Marisse with one count of second-degree murder after the death of 83-year-old Sharon Helene Roberts.

Police were called to a residence in the 13000 block of Canterbury Gardens SW after reports that a woman in her 80s had died. After an autopsy, the incident was deemed a homicide, police said.

They believe the incident was domestic in nature, and the victim’s daughter was taken into custody. Police are not looking for any additional suspects in that case.

Meanwhile, police have yet to lay any charges after a man in his 40s was found in medical distress and later died after an altercation that also involved a woman in her 30s.

Police were called to the 0-100 block of Edgemont Court NW on Jan. 9 around 4:15 p.m. after reports of a dispute inside a residence. The man was found inside and despite efforts of first responders, he died at the scene.

No one is in custody at this time, and Calgary police aren’t seeking any suspects.

Investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances that led to the fight.

Anyone with information on either of these cases can call 403-266-1234.
