Calgary’s police are investigating after the city’s 15th pedestrian fatality on city roads in 2025.

A woman in her 40s died after a crash in northeast Calgary on Thursday evening, according to the Calgary Police Service.

Police said that around 6:05 p.m. on Dec. 18, a 2016 Honda Pilot, driven by a woman in her 50s was travelling westbound on 26 Avenue NE approaching 32 Street.  At the same time, the victim was standing at the corner of the intersection, wanting to travel west along 32 Street NE.

When the signal turned green, and the pedestrian walk signal had been activated, the Honda turned north on to 32 Street NE and at the same time the pedestrian walked into the crosswalk. That’s when the car struck the woman.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition. She later died.

Neither speed nor alcohol are considered factors in the crash, according to police.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234.
