Calgary police are looking for a potential suspect in a downtown Calgary fire that impacted an area restaurant.

Early Wednesday morning, firefighters were called out to a fire in a basement crawl space at a restaurant in the 200 block of 10 Avenue SW.

According to police, a review of CCTV footage in the area showed a man walking westbound in a nearby alley just before the fire, carrying a flaming stick.

The man is described as thin and average height. He was wearing a dark green toque, jeans, a black jacket with a grey sweater underneath, and a red bandana tied around his neck.

The man had a black Speedo backpack with “Calgary Patriots” embroidered on it, and he had grey carry-on-sized luggage.

Anyone with information on the incident or the identity of the person of interest is asked to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234.
