Despite the cool and wet weather on the Calgary Stampede grounds, nearly 100,000 people poured through the gates of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, pushing the overall attendance past the million mark heading into the weekend.

On Thursday, 95,165 people headed down to the grounds, bringing the seven-day attendance total to 1,069,306 overall, with three days remaining. A record-breaking 10-day number is in sight, but it is by no means guaranteed.

If comedy is your thing, the Calgary Stampede has some of Canada’s funniest comedians coming in for one night only (tonight), and the Stage of Wonders becomes an 18+ Comedy Club for guests to enjoy some good old belly laughs.

We’re also getting into the final weekend at the Calgary Stampede rodeo and the Rangeland Derby, and the push to appear on the final Sunday is on!

On Thursday in the rodeo infield, Beau Peterson from Council Grove, Kansas, scored a blistering 2.5 in Breakaway Roping to lock up the day money, while Hailey Kinsel of Cotulla, Texas, raced the barrels in 17.16 in Ladies Barrel Racing to take top spot on Day 7.

Chance Howard of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and Bridger Anderson of Carrington, North Dakota, each dragged down the stock in 4.2 seconds in the Steer Wrestling event to saw off the day money. Marty Yates from Stephenville, Texas, lassoed top spot in Tie Down roping with a 7.1 on the day.

In Bareback, Weston Timberman of Columbus, Montana, cruised to victory on Coconut Valley with an 88.5, and Dakota Buttar of Eatonia, Saskatchewan, squeaked out a win about OLS Tubs Big River, with an 85.50. That was only a half-point better than Luke Mackey of Ignacio, Colorado.

The big ride of the day, however, went to Wildwood, Alberta’s own Dawson Hay, who scored a rodeo-best 91.5 aboard Enigma in the Saddlebronc event. Full rodeo results can be found here.

On the Rangeland Derby track, Jason Glass got his first taste of the winner’s circle in 2025, zipping around the track in a time of 1:12.15 to lock up the top day money prize. Overall leader Chanse Vigen was fifth, and that’s enough to stay in the top spot of the aggregate standings. Only seven seconds separate the top seven spots fighting for the chance to race in the Dash for Cash on Sunday. Here’s the full chuckwagon results.
