Calgary Stampede: Day 5 wrap, and what's on for Kids' Day

The Calgary Stampede’s Day 5 at the 2025 Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth will go down in the record books, drawing a massive crowd on one of the hottest days of the year.

While the weather was sizzling, so was the crowd at the Coca-Cola Stage for the Tinashe and Don Tolliver sets, which drew thousands to the free music stage on the Calgary Stampede Midway.

The final attendance figure for the TC Energy Community Day on Tuesday was a whopping 193,033. That brings the five-day attendance total to 812,722.

It could be another big day on the grounds, the BMO Kids’ Day, where all kids 12 and under get in for free all day long, and it’s free for everyone until 10 a.m. There’s a pancake breakfast in the GMC Stadium courtyard from 8 to 10 a.m. (while supplies last).

On the track at the Rangeland Derby, Chad Fike (Steelhaus Tryton) put together the right rig, and it led to a blistering 1:10.85 and the top time of the night. Overall aggregate leader, Chanse Vigen (VisitLethbridge.com), wasn’t in the top three fastest heats on Tuesday, but he did enough to stay atop the cumulative leaderboard after five nights of racing. Jamie Laboucane (Panorama Advisory Group) had the second fastest time on the night (1:11.40), followed by Obrey Motowylo (C&B Advertising) at 1:11.62. Full chuckwagon results here.

Over to the Calgary Stampede rodeo infield, where there was a ton of action under the hot sun on Tuesday.

In the Bareback event, Helena, Montana’s Sam Petersen scored an 89 aboard Twin Cherry to take the day’s money. Brody Wells from Powell, Wyoming, rode Ginger Snap to an 89.5, beating a trio of riders in Saddle Bronc who tied for second with 88.5. On the bulls, Grady Young from Leader, Saskatchewan couldn’t be shaken off Shake It Off, locking in an 87 to take the day prize in Bull Riding.

Joel Harris from San Angelo, Texas, was tops in Tie Down Roping with a 7.8, and Cash Robb from Altamont, Utah, Rowdy Parrott from Mamou, Louisiana and Will Lummus from Byhalia, Mississippi, all dialed in a 3.9 in Steer Wrestling to tie atop the leaderboard, splitting the top three cash awards.

Bradi Good from Abilene, Texas, was blazing fast in Breakaway Roping, logging a 2.6 to win Tuesday’s rodeo cash. Megan Mcleod-Sprague captured her second top day money win, with a 17.21 in Ladies Barrel Racing. Full rodeo results can be found here.
