Calgary Stampede: Day 4 wrap, what to do on Day 5

The 2025 Calgary Stampede keeps rolling along with another solid day of fun on the grounds on a beautiful sunny day in Calgary.

It’s more of the same today – but only hotter! It’s also TC Energy Community Day, which means that there’s free admission for everyone from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Seniors and veterans are free all day long, and they also get free coffee and donuts in the BMO Plaza until 11 a.m. Sounds like a great reason to make your way down today.

Attendance took a slight breather on Monday, as it so often does, with 98,655 people going through the gates, bringing the 2025 cumulative total to 619,689.

At the Rangeland Derby, Chanse Vigen (VisitLethbridge.com) held on to the top spot overall, after scoring the top run of the night at 1:11.39. Kris Molle (Graf Mechanical Ltd.) and Darcy Flad (Ternan Farms) jumped up into the top three on night four of the chuckwagons, with Molle only behind top spot by a hair, running at 1:11.43.

Jamie Laboucane (Panorama Advisory Group) and Obrey Motowylo (Shel-Bar Electronics), in the top three for the first few nights of the Rangeland Derby, stayed near the top, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively. Full chuckwagon results can be found here.

Day 4 of the Calgary Stampede rodeo saw the fastest time in Tie Down Roping, with Ty Harris from San Angelo, Texas, locking in a time of 6.7 seconds – nearly a full second ahead of his next competitor. Fellow Texas cowboy Cody Devers took home Monday day cash with a time of 3.8 seconds in Steer Wrestling.

Megan Mcleod-Sprague from Marsing, Idaho, was Monday’s winner in the Ladies Barrel Racing event, locking in a tenth-of-a-second victory (17:11) over Hayle Gibson-Stilwell of Redcrest, California (17:23). In Breakaway Roping, Maddy Deerman from Hope, New Mexico, lassoed her way to the day prize with a time of 2.7 seconds.

The Bareback event has Cooper Cooke of Victor, Idaho, ride Zastron Acres to an 88 for top spot on Day 4. Aussie cowboy Damian Brennan hopped aboard Mary Jane and rode to a blistering 91, squeezing out the half-point win over Zeke Thurston from Big Valley, Alberta, who rode Exciting Bubbles for a 90.5 score.

There was another big ride in the Bull Riding event on Monday, with Grady Young from Leader, Saskatchewan taking a ride on Splash Tide, gliding to the win with a 91. Full rodeo results can be found here.
