Some 300,000 people will be watching Shania Twain this July, although it won’t be at one of her sold-out concerts—Twain has been selected as the 2025 Calgary Stampede parade marshal.
The icon of country music and multi-Grammy-award-winning superstar will be heading up the parade on July 4, and performing at the Stampede Concert Series on July 5.
“With just 100 days until the parade rolls through the streets of downtown Calgary, there’s no better way to mark the occasion than by welcoming Shania Twain as our 2025 parade marshal,” said Stuart O’Connor, President & Chair of the Board at the Calgary Stampede, in a prepared media release.
“As a Canadian icon who has captivated audiences worldwide, Shania embodies the grit, passion and celebration that defines the Stampede. We can’t wait to see her lead the Parade and share this unforgettable moment with our community, as well as visitors and viewers from around the world.”
Twain’s star power succeeds Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen, who was the parade marshal in 2023, and film, television, and Stampede ambassador Owen Crow Shoe in 2024.
“The City of Calgary and the province of Alberta have always held a very special place in my heart,” Twain said in the release.
“The Calgary Stampede is an amazing celebration of Western heritage and culture and embodies the true spirit of Calgarians and Canadians. I look forward to being part of it again, not only playing at the Saddledome on the first Saturday of Stampede, but also on horseback riding through the streets of downtown Calgary.”
She last played the Calgary Stampede in 2014, and the Saddledome in 2023.
The Calgary Stampede Parade kicks off at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 4, although parade visitors can catch acts from cultural and entertainment groups starting at 7:30 a.m.
