Calgary man hits cyclist with same bus stolen twice

A 20-year-old Calgarian has been charged with several offences after he was alleged to have stolen the same school bus twice from two different locations and hitting a cyclist on Edmonton Trail.

Andrew John Martyn Wilson is alleged to have stolen the school bus from a Southland Transportation yard located in South Foothills on Nov. 14, then again stealing the same bus from Southland’s Highfield yard on Nov. 17, after it was recovered from the first theft.

“After reviewing CCTV footage, the suspect was seen a few hours later at approximately 4:30 a.m. driving the bus in a reckless manner, and deliberately striking a cyclist in the area of Edmonton Trail NE and 36 Avenue NE,” said CPS.

“The suspect fled the scene and the cyclist sustained serious life-altering injuries.”

The bus was recovered from the parking lot located at The Confluence.

“There were no passengers on the bus during any of these incidents. The cyclist continues to recover from their injuries,” said CPS.

Wilson was charged with aggravated assault, break and enter to commit motor vehicle theft, theft of a motor vehicle, failure to remain at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm and failure to comply with court orders.
