Theatre Calgary’s upcoming production of Beaches the Musical is set to be one of Calgary’s biggest and star powered theatre productions this year.

The company revealed the full cast lineup on April 8, for the international premiere of the show, set to take place at the Max Bell Theatre on May 24 and running until June 16.

Television and broadway veteran Kelli Barrett (The Punisher, Parade) is joined by award winning broadway actor Jessica Vosk (The Bridges of Madison County, Chess) in the lead roles for Beaches as Cee Cee and Bertie.

The New York duo are joined by a diverse local Calgary cast of actors including Cecilia Currie, Emily Dallas, Jillian Hubler-McManus, Nathan Gibb Johnson, Jamie Konchak, Hailey Loyns, Kayla MacKenzie, Katie McMillan, and Eric Wigston.

They’re joined by New York-based Theatre Calgary veteran Brent Thiessen, alongside Toronto actors Sierra Holder, Addison Wagman, and Alba Evora Weiler.

“I am absolutely overwhelmed by this truly spectacular cast of 15 performers from Calgary, Toronto, and New York City, and the stellar team of designers, that will breathe life into this brand-new production of Beaches the Musical making its debut at Theatre Calgary,” said Theatre Calgary Artistic Director Stafford Arima.

“I can’t wait to see and hear the magic that these talented group of artists create on Theatre Calgary’s stage.”

The production is being directed by Emmy award winner and Tony nominee Lonny Price (Emerson’s Bar and Grill, Theatre Calgary’s The Louder We Get) and co-directed by Matt Cowart (Theatre Calgary’s The Louder We Get).

Producer Jennifer Maloney-Prezioso praised Theatre Calgary for holding the international premiere of Beaches the Musical.

“Our entire team has the utmost respect and admiration for Stafford Arima and his extensive experience and knowledge of new musicals. The fact that Theatre Calgary has the infrastructure, onstage and off, and could accommodate the size, scale and scope of the vision for the show made bringing Beaches to Theatre Calgary the best possible decision,” she said.

“We can’t wait to share this love story about friendship with audiences in Calgary and around the world.”
