Northwest Calgary multi-family fire is deemed suspicious, police say

A northwest Calgary multi-residential fire is now being investigated as suspicious, according to the Calgary police.

Around 12:50 a.m. on Jan. 6, Calgary firefighters responded to the 0-110 block of Sage Hill Terrace NW. When they arrived, they found two large multi-family residential units on fire, with it spreading to a third unit. A fourth unit was also partially damaged, police said. According to fire officials, the buildings were still under construction.

A second alarm was called in for additional units, and they set up aerial ladders and platforms to fight the fire.

The Calgary Police Service Arson Unit is now investigating, and the fire has been deemed suspicious in nature.

No injuries were reported, though several vehicles that were parked along the street did suffer damage, police said.

Police are asking the public to come forward with any information or witness reports from the time leading up to or during the fire that could advance the investigation.

Members of the public can call police at 403-266-1234 with information on the fire.
