The City of Calgary is temporarily closing the 8 Avenue NE bridge that crosses Deerfoot Trail between the communities of Maryland Heights and Renfrew this weekend.

The bridge closure begins at 9 p.m. on Friday, September 8 and is planned to remain closed until Monday, September 11.

“The City is replacing a portion of the sidewalk on this bridge in preparation to tie in the new stairs from below,” said the City.

Pedestrian traffic and cyclist traffic across the bridge is not expected to be affected.

The closure is set to cover the length of the bridge from 13A Street NE to 16A Street NE.
