Calgary Police have laid 42 charges against three males between the ages of 16 and 17 on Monday, after bystanders in Auburn Bay and Legacy were shot with Airsoft guns.

Police were called to those communities after noon on June 19, after the occupants of a white Hyundai Sonata were firing unknown projectiles at a number of individuals, with seven victims identified so far.

“The victimization of Calgarians through the use of firearms in any crime, or perceived use of firearms such as airsoft guns, is very real and can have lasting impacts on victims,” said the Calgary Police Service.

Police performed a high risk stop of the vehicle at the intersection of 210 Avenue SE. and Walgrove Drive SE. The youth complied with police instructions, and were safely taken into custody.

CPS officers seized two airsoft guns from the vehicle. The two guns, despite having colourful markings, were designed to look AR-15 rifles.

The accused cannot be named as a result of age provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234, or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
