The story of day two of the Calgary Stampede can be summed up in three words: thousands attend grounds.
The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth has swung back into full pre-pandemic form, as Calgarians took to the fairgrounds on a sunny Saturday to take in the renewed show.
Attendance swelled to 117,231 on Saturday, bringing the two-day (plus sneak-a-peek) total to 271,944. Suncor’s Family Day goes Sunday. The weather is expected to be mild, so that could bring a big crowd out.
From the Nashville North tent, to the BMO Centre’s Dog Bowl show, pent-up demand for the Stampede’s entertainment led to lineups. Some lines snaked their way through the park, as that demand far outstripped venue capacity.
Day 2 of the rodeo (results here) and the chuckwagons (photos below and results here) also took centre stage.
