Calgary opened 2022 with its first New Year’s Eve fireworks display in two years.

The five-and-a-half-minute show saw fireworks launched off the top of the Calgary Tower. A countdown light show was also done on the tower and the Telus Sky building.

Thousands of Calgarians gathered downtown, and at overlook points across the city, to join in counting down to 2022.

And for those Calgarians that missed the show, the City of Calgary’s live stream of the countdown and fireworks show is available to watch online.

We’ve been through a lot over the past two years, Calgary. Here’s to a wonderful, prosperous and united year.

It will be a pivotal year in our city as we continue to shed the strain of Covid, as we emerge from the pandemic and continue to build a Calgary that moves forward together, not divided.

We wish you the very best in 2022 and we’re excited to have each of you joining us every day!
