Santa flipped the switch on the seventh annual East Village Light Up The Square event on Saturday night.
More than 100 Calgarians gathered in the East Village to celebrate the start of the Christmas season, and enjoy horse drawn carriage rides and hot chocolate.
Caroling, too.
The event was put on by the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation, and the East Village Community Association.
The East Village’s Hygee Hut has also been re-opened for the season. The city’s Nordic Loop cross country ski track, located at Fort Calgary, is also expected to open later this winter once snow levels reach 15 centimeters.
