Marquee Beer Market & Stage appears to be closing at the end of October.

The nightclub, located along Macleod Trail South, created a public event on Facebook announcing the closure. Marquee is hosting a ‘Drink the Bar Dry’ party on Friday as part of its closing weekend.

On its page, Marquee thanked Calgarians for their support.

“For 6 years Calgarians have been dancing to some of the most memorable parties this city has seen on our dance floor,” the event details read.

“As Calgary’s nightlife constantly reinvents itself; Marquee will be closing at the end of the month. We would like to thank all our staff, suppliers, promoters, agents and most importantly YOU – our guests, who have supported us day in and day out. We are truly grateful.”

The club said all tickets to current events would be refunded at point of purchase.

LiveWire Calgary reached out to Marquee Beer Market and was told the club was “not ready to talk about it yet.”

Marquee describes itself as Calgary’s premier nightclub and concert venue. With more than 13,000 square feet, the club was a popular spot for musicians, corporate functions and other celebrations.

The nightclub faced substantial scrutiny three years ago.

Back in 2016, it was reported Calgary Stampeder Mylan Hicks was fatally shot outside Marquee. The football team had been celebrating a Saturday night win at the club.

In March, CTV reported the family of Mylan Hicks filed a lawsuit against Marquee.
