Pedestrian dies after collision with CTrain

One Calgary pedestrian has died after a collision with the CTrain Monday afternoon.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on July 27, a female pedestrian walked into a prohibited area of the Shaganappi Point LRT Station along Bow Trail, S.W and then on to the tracks as a CTrain approached the station from the east, according to a CPS-issued media release.

The CTrain operator activated both the train’s horn and emergency brakes prior to the impact, according to the release.

“Paramedics attended the scene and transported the woman to hospital but sadly, she did not survive,” it reads.

CPS said that impairment on behalf of the pedestrian is currently being investigated. Speed is not considered a factor.
