The Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) Board of Trustees have re-elected Lory Iovinelli, who represents wards 6 and 8, as its chair and have elected Trustee Steve Chapman, who represents wards 13 and 14, as the vice chair for the 2026-27 school year.
Iovinelli is a former CCSD teacher who is serving her third term as a trustee.
During her service as trustee, she has held several leadership and representative roles both locally and provincially, including director, Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association (ACSTA); representative, St. Mary’s University; representative, Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education (GrACE) Board; and member, CCSD GrACE Grass Roots Organization, according to a CCSD-issued release.
“Since 2003, she has also volunteered in numerous district roles, including serving as vice chair and chair of school council,” the release reads.
Chapman, who is in his first term as a trustee, was a member of the Calgary Police Service prior to his election, according to the release.
With CPS, he worked in Patrol, Traffic and Special Investigations. During his time in Major Crimes, he helped create the Youth Gang Task Force, an initiative designed to support at-risk youth and reconnect them with their homes, schools and communities.
“Trustee Chapman has also served on several community association boards and remains active with the Knights of Columbus (KofC) at St. Cecilia’s Parish and the KofC Calgary Council,” the release reads.
