In a video posted to their social media channels, the Calgary Stampeders have presumably teased a new uniform set to debut this coming season.
The video, captioned “The next ride. Coming soon.” compiles close-ups of what appears to be a white jersey with red numbers and a red jersey with white numbers.
The Stamps’ previously changed their look in 2023, when the team debuted a red-based home jersey, a white-based road jersey and a black-based alternate jersey.
Judging from the non-descript video, the team appears to have scrubbed black from their game day palette.
When asked, the Calgary Stampeders could not share any further information with LWC. No official release date has been set.
Fans optimistic based on first looks
If the controversial striped jerseys are officially going by the wayside, some Stampeders fans would embrace the change.
The team’s previous jerseys featured red and white stripes running across the shoulders and upper back, down the leg and on the helmet, taking inspiration from the Stamps’ 75th anniversary jerseys from 2021.
Some fans online compared the previous uniforms to a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket, with others adding that a new jersey has the potential to be a fan favourite.
