Be an angel in the snow… Be a Snow Angel

It’s the season of giving, Calgary, and there’s no better way to help others than shoveling a bit of snow.

We’re locked into winter now, and with that, so is the City of Calgary’s Snow Angels campaign, which encourages Calgarians to help one another with snow clearing.

The act is simple: Adopt a sidewalk in your neighbourhood and keep in clear when the white stuff falls. The City is encouraging people to be on the lookout for neighbours who might need help with the snow removal.

“By lending a hand, Calgarians are not only helping their neighbours and making winter easier to navigate, they’re also inspiring kindness across the community”, said Maerge Gebreegzabher, with the City of Calgary, in a prepared media release.

“Together, we can create a ripple effect of generosity that lasts all winter long.”

Neighbours can recognize Snow Angels with a printable certificate. They can be downloaded from the City of Calgary’s website, or requested through 311 on the web, mobile app or phone.

The Snow Angels program turns 21 this season, with thousands of Calgarians participating each year, the City said.
