The Calgary police are turning to the public for help after a religious sculpture at a southeast university was vandalized earlier this month.

Calgary police said that on Nov. 3, around 3 a.m., a silver 2008-2013 Nissan Rogue with a stolen licence plate CGT4176 entered the St. Mary’s University campus located at 14500 Bannister Road SE.

A suspect left the vehicle and used a saw to remove a portion of a bronze sculpture, causing significant damage to the $30,000 artwork. The stolen piece was then loaded into the vehicle before the driver fled the scene.

Calgary police said that after exhausting all investigative avenues, they’re hoping the public can help them find the suspect and locate the stolen property.

Anyone with information about the incident, the vehicle or the identity of the suspect is asked to call CPS at 403-266-1234.
