Nine Calgarians are running for the job of leading city council, and among them is the incumbent, Jyoti Gondek.

Gondek won the 2021 election by a substantial margin, with 176,344 votes, roughly 60,000 more than second-place finisher Jeromy Farkas, and 126,000 more than Jeff Davison. The incumbent mayor also won every ward in the 2021 election, though it was close in Ward 13.

Both of the latter candidates are back in the race this time around, along with regular mayoral participant Larry Heather. This year, the field has shrunken from 27 candidates to nine.

Technically, only two of the municipal parties are represented in the field, however, A Better Calgary Party has endorsed Jeff Davison for mayor.

Here are your nine candidates for mayor:

Jeff Davison – Independent

Sarah Elder – Independent

Jeromy Farkas – Independent

Jyoti Gondek (incumbent) – Independent

Jaeger Gustafson – Independent

Larry Heather – Independent

Grant Prior – Independent

Sonya Sharp – Communities First

Brian Thiessen – Calgary Party

Survey says!

Jyoti Gondek’s campaign did not return the LWC 2025 candidate survey.
