Bradley Tepper, 52, has been charged by the Calgary Police Service after a series of alleged thefts and fraudulent activities at hardware stores in Calgary and area.
Tepper, until Aug. 26, was a 20-year member with the Calgary Police Service with the rank of constable.
He was relieved of duty on Tuesday, and charged with one count of theft over $5,000, and one count of fraud over $5,000.
“When a criminal investigation involves one of our own members, it has the potential to undermine trust and confidence in our Service,” said Calgary Police Chief Katie McLellan,” in a prepared media release.
“With investigations like this, our responsibility to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation is integral to upholding our principles of accountability and integrity.”
The service alleged that Tepper stole items totalling more than $10,000 over a 12 month period.
Constable Tepper was cited by the Calgary Police Commission in 2023, for the work that he had done proactively patrolling for crime prevention.
“When officers can proactively patrol, they can work on crime prevention and build relationships with the community they serve. Time available for proactive patrol became a key Calgary Police performance indicator this year so more of this can happen,” wrote the commission.
“Nice work Cst (sic) Tepper!”
The original post the commission linked to from the Calgary Police Service was unavailable as of Aug. 26.
