Calgary police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man believed responsible for a random attack and attempted sexual assault after attempting all other investigative avenues.

The suspect, approximately 35 years old, around 6’0” tall, with a muscular or heavy build, struck the victim from behind in Ranchero Park on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at approximately 10:20 p.m., located near the 0-100 block of Range Way NW.

Hitting her head, the suspect caused the victim to fall to the ground, police said.

While on the ground, the suspect is said to have physically assaulted the victim several times and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim fought back, and the man subsequently fled the scene on foot, according to police.

The suspect has black hair and black facial hair, a medium skin tone and acne scars on his face.

After being immediately notified of the incident, officers, including the Canine Unit, searched the area upon arrival, but were unable to locate the suspect.

After following all other investigative avenues, police are asking the public and releasing two composite sketches, including a sketch of his face and a unique scar he is said to have behind his right ear, to help identify the man.

Anyone with information about this incident, or who knows the identity of the suspect, is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Alternatively, anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
