16-year-old Calgarian identified as victim of homicide

The death of a 16-year-old Calgarians has been ruled a homicide, after investigators attended a suspicious death in northeast Calgary in the early morning hours of Aug. 1.

Police were called to the 300 block of Abergale Drive NE, at 1:20 a.m., following reports of a person in medical distress.

That individual, identified by police as Carter Spivak-Villeneuve, was found deceased by police.

“This is a deeply troubling file given the victim’s age,” said Acting Staff Sgt. Clark Budd of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.

“Our investigation is ongoing, and we urge anyone with information about Carter’s whereabouts, or information on who he may have been with last night to contact police or Crime Stoppers.”

CPS said that the investigation into Spivak-Villeneuve’s death was ruled a homicide, after an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The public is being asked to share any information regarding suspicious activity that may have occurred between midnight and 1:30 a.m., int he community of Abbeydale.
