Calgary Stampede: Day 3 wrap-up of Family Day and what's on for Day 4

Another beautiful day and another big Family Day crowd, keeping the 2025 edition of the Calgary Stampede on pace for another potential record-setting year.

More than 182,000 people went through the turnstiles on Tim Horton’s Family Day, bringing the cumulative attendance up to 521,034 for the first three days of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.

As a part of Family Day, the Calgary Stampede, in partnership with BMO, recognized 19 farm families in southern Alberta by presenting them with the 2025 BMO Farm Family Awards. Here’s a full list of the winners.

At the Sunday rodeo, Anita Ellis from Blackfoot, Idaho, went back-to-back sub-17 runs to sweep the first weekend in Ladies Barrel Racing, while Langdon, Alta’s Shelby Boisjoil-Meged scored another Breakaway Roping win and another $7k in day money.

In Steer Wrestling, Justin Shaffer from Hico, Texas, took top spot Sunday, with a time of 4.3 seconds. Shane Smith from Wimborne, Alberta, won the Tie Down Roping event, with a time of 7.1 seconds.

Hayes Weight from Goshen, Utah, rode Judge and Jury to an 86.50 in the Bull Riding event on Sunday, while Waylon Bourgeois from Church Point, Louisiana, scored an 88 aboard Expose Not in Bareback.

The big ride of the day was from Lefty Holman from Visalia, California, who scored an 89.5 aboard Crocket to take the Sunday payday in Saddle Bronc. Full rodeo results can be found here.

At Day 3 of the Rangeland Derby, familiar names continued to post the fastest times, this time with Jamie Laboucane (Panorame Advisory Group) leading the way with a 1:13.79, followed by Chanse Vigen (VisitLethbridge.com) with a 1:14.23. A half-second behind was Obrey Motowylo (Len T Wong & Associates Real Estate), who finished in third spot for the night.

Overall, Chanse Vigen still holds a slim lead after Day 3, but there’s lots of racing left to come this week. Full Rangeland Derby results can be found here.
