Calgarians choose the Calgary Public Library every day to get information, so opening a summer pop-up visitor information hub at the Central Library in Downtown Calgary was a natural choice.
The new hub, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, is set to provide tourists and interested Calgarians alike with more information about the city.
As a part of the pop-up, Tourism Calgary’s local expert team will also be on hand to direct visitors to tours, itineraries, access passes to attractions, and to answer questions.
“Our summer team plays a significant role in engaging visitors and locals and driving important business referrals to partners across the city,” said Alisha Reynolds, President and CEO of Tourism Calgary.
“We are thrilled to have a central location in this beautiful signature downtown building, which offers guest accessibility and close proximity to hotels and attractions, to support visitors and locals as we encourage them to engage and discover our blue sky city.”
The summer referral program has been a major part of Tourism Calgary’s strategy to increase the visitor economy in Calgary, and year-over-year statistics from 2023 to 2024 showed that referrals through the team increased by 43 per cent.
Sarah Meilleur, CEO of Calgary Public Library, said that with 1.1 million visits annually, the Central Library has served as a destination for Calgarians and visitors and makes sense as a place to host the Tourism Calgary pop-up.
“We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with Tourism Calgary and highlight Central Library as a top attraction in our blue sky city,” she said.
Tourism Calgary’s free Calgary Attraction Pass, which has been promoted by the civic partner as a way to provide discounts and prizes to users, was recognized by experience-building platform Bandwango as the top free pass in North America.
That pass provides discounts to the Calgary Tower, Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, Heritage Park, National Music Centre, Telus Spark Science Centre, Hanger Flight Museum, The Confluence, Winsport, and Calaway Park.
