One of the most recognizable players on and off the Calgary Surge court for the past two years of the franchise has been Sean Miller-Moore, known to friends and fans alike as Rugzy.

Now the CEBL All-Canadian is set to return to Calgary for a third season to propel the Surge towards a potential trio of playoff runs.

“Calgary feels like home,” said Miller-Moore.

“This city, this team, and these fans have embraced me from day one. I’m excited to run it back with my brothers and go even further this season. We’re chasing a championship, and I’m all in.”

Miller-Moore started in all of the 23 regular season and playoff games in both 2023 and 2024, with an average of more than 16 points per game, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists.

Before joining the Surge, he played for the Guelph Nighthawks, where he was named one of SportsCenter’s Top 10 Repeat Slam Artists in 2022.

That consistent leadership on the court was cited by Surge General Manager Shane James as something the team wanted from their players.

“Rugzy is everything you want in a competitor.”

“He plays with heart, he leads by example, and he gives you 100 per cent every time he steps on the floor. He’s been with us from the beginning, and we’re proud to have him back for year three.”

The re-signing of Miller-Moore comes following a number of high-profile additions to the team, including Jameer Nelson Jr., former Canadian National Team star Abu Kigab, Stefan Jankovic, and former NBA player Greg Brown III.

The Surge’s Trilogy season kicks off between the Edmonton Stingers and the Surge at the Edmonton Expo Centre on May 11, and return to the Saddledome for the final game of the CEBL regular season on August 10.
