Calgary Catholic School District unofficial byelection results announced

Elections Calgary said around 382 people voted in Wards 4 and 7 while 1,099 voted in Wards 11 and 12.

Elections Calgary announced the unofficial results of the Calgary Catholic School District byelection, which was held on Friday.

According to unofficial results, Maria-Teresa Vecchio-Romano was elected in Wards 4 and 7. Vecchio-Romano is a teacher chaplain for the CCSD and has been an educator since 1998. She was also awarded for excellence in Catholic education in the 2014-2015 school year and for shepherd leadership in 2009.

Chantelle Dur was elected in Wards 11 and 12. Dur worked at St. Mary University’s admissions department after finishing her history degree, and has also volunteered her time for school councils and Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education.

Elections Calgary said around 382 people voted in Wards 4 and 7 while 1,099 voted in Wards 11 and 12.

“I would like to thank the election workers who welcomed voters to the voting stations and the voters who participated in the CCSD By-election,” Kate Martin, returning officer with Elections Calgary, said in an emailed statement.

“Together, you have shown a commitment to local democracy.”
