Update: Calgary Police said on August 17 that they had identified the individual sought. Original story below.

The Calgary Police Service is looking to identify a man believed to have been involved in an alleged assault on a child at Prairie Winds Park on July 30.

Police were called to the Castleridge park after a man, aged between 40 and 50 years old, with a medium build and short black hair, was alleged to have struck a 12-year-old girl.

“It is believed the man verbally confronted the victim after an interaction at the playground between his young son and the victim. The verbal altercation escalated, and the man struck the victim,” said CPS.

The service said that the victim was assessed by EMS, before being transported home by attending CPS officers.

Anyone with information about the incident, or who can identify the male suspect, is asked to call CPS at 403-266-1234 or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
