Ambrose University is raising money for its student scholarships and financial aid packages

Two floor seat tickets for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert are being auctioned off by a southwest Calgary university to help raise money for the school’s scholarship program.

The silent auction is part of Ambrose University’s annual fundraiser where it raises money for student financial aid. According to the auction’s official website, winners will be able to see Swift perform at the Rogers Centre in Toronto on Nov. 23 this year and will be sitting in section C4, row 18, seats 10 and 11.

Donors are also able to bid on a three-week stay in Oahu, Hawaii, Calgary Roughnecks tickets and a ticket to the Calgary Flames home opener, among many others.

This year, Ambrose University wants to surpass last year’s donation amount of $70,000.

“It’s the concert of the year. It’s got all the hype around it, so we’re really excited,” said Hanna Svensson, a communications coordinator at Ambrose University.

“We just have a very generous network of donors and alumni that were willing to donate to get this together for students and to raise money for the scholarship. So, it’s been a great experience … The fact that we get to auction these off and reach our fellow t-swifties out there is very exciting for us.”

Svensson added that the money will be collected and allocated towards Ambrose University’s general pool for scholarships and financial aid. Each student receives an entrance scholarship when they enroll in the university.

The university also has a long list of other scholarships that students can apply for, including packages for continuing students. Around 860 students are currently attending the university, Svensson said.

“It’s going towards our future generation. It’s going towards our future leaders. So, it’s a great initiative to donate towards, and we just appreciate it so much. The payback will come in future years when our future leaders are well educated and doing things in the world,” she said.

Those interested in participating in the silent auction can do so when the auction opens on Thursday, Aug. 15. The last day to bid on prizes is Sunday, Sept. 1.

Those interested in donating can also visit Ambrose University’s website.
