As Heritage Park continues to celebrate their 60th Anniversary, a new special event is taking place: The Heritage Park Children’s Festival.

The festival will go ahead this coming weekend on Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16. The event’s start and end times are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The celebration will take place at the Historical Village in the park.

The festivities are endless at the park as just some of the events included are animal visits, old-fashioned games, puppet crafting, face painting, and live sheepdog herding demonstrations. The park’s iconic paddle-wheeler boat, the S.S Moyie, and the train will be operational for visitors to enjoy. A list of all of the activities can be found here.

Lots of food options will also be available at the Heritage Park Children’s Festival. Bakery pastries, candy, ice cream, and sit-down venues will be scattered around the park. A location to all the park has to offer for food can be found here.

“We were looking for something that was different. There really isn’t a children’s festival in Calgary anymore and we figured there is no better place to do it than here at the park,” said Dominic Terry, Strategic Communications Manager.

Best-selling author and Canadian sports anchor, Lisa Bowes will be doing a reading of her sport series books. After the reading is completed, there will be an opportunity to take a picture with Bowes and purchase the book series.

The tickets are free for Heritage Park Members. For general (16 – 64) $34.95, youth (3 – 15) $22.95, and Senior (65 +) $26.95. All prices are without GST included. As the Park is celebrating the special event, with every paid adult ticket, get a free child ticket.

Heritage Park has lots of exciting events planned for the rest of their 60th anniversary year.

“We are premiering a Wild West Show this July, our new Curiosities and Oddities walking tour is ongoing, Music in the Plaza – our free music series on Wednesday nights – starts on July 3, and Oktoberfest will be coming closer to the fall,” said Terry.
