Don’t let the warm weather give you a false sense of security. More snow is on the way, Calgary.
Big time.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a special weather statement for Calgary and area, with a cold front moving through starting Tuesday night.
According to ECCC, the snow will begin overnight Tuesday in the northern foothills and move southward on Wednesday.
“Snowfall will intensify on Thursday, and spread eastward towards the Saskatchewan border,” read their statement.
“Snow will end on Friday.”
ECCC said that they expect 10 to 30 centimetres for the foothills and mountain parks. Five to 10 cm is expected east of Highway 2 in southern Alberta, they said.
Right now, the forecast accumulation for Calgary is between five and 15 centimetres, with highs just above freezing. Precipitation is forecast into next week, with temperatures forecasted to stay above the freezing mark.
Hang in there, though.
Starting next Tuesday, temperatures are forecast to climb back into the teens for an extended period, with only some rain predicted.
So, basically a typical spring in Calgary.
