Calgary police are investigating a shooting death that happened at a southeast Calgary hotel.
Officers responded to the 0-100 block of Shawville Road SE around 3 p.m. on Monday after reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man in one of the suites had been shot. The victim died at the scene, according to police.
Police said it was a targeted attack that happened in the suite and posed no risk to other hotel guests.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Liban Abdirahman. It’s Calgary’s fourth homicide of 2024.
The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit said they were speaking with witnesses and gathering information, including CCTV footage from the area. They have not made any arrests.
