Calgary Transit began using bus replacement services on Friday morning, following power issues in the downtown core along 7 Avenue that prevented the use of CTrains.
Shuttles were provided for transit users along 6 Avenue NE, to 9 Avenue, with additional pickup stops at City Hall, Stampede, and Erlton LRT stations.
“This morning we experienced an issue with power on 7 Avenue and were not able to provide service downtown. We will be investigating the issue at a later time but our focus is on resuming service as quickly as possible,” said Calgary Transit, in a statement provided to LWC.
“Crews are working on resuming service but there will be some delays as we work through these issues.”
In response to questions asked whether CTrains would be running again by rush hour, Calgary Transit said they would be running shuttle buses until they were able to solve the power issues.
No timeline was given for when train service would be restored, but Calgary Transit said they would be providing updates via social media throughout the day.
The service also said they would be setting up warming for shuttle bus users at some stations along the replacement route for users.
