Calgarians taking in this year’s Portuguese entry for the GlobalFest International Fireworks Festival had to bear out several hours of heavy rain, and at times, blowing wind.
Yet for the thousands who took in GlobalFest at Elliston Park, the night’s firework performance was worth the weather.
Macedos Pirotecnia Lda, which has been launching fireworks in Portugal for more than 80 years, represented their nation for the evening’s show.
GlobalFest returns on Aug. 24 with a firework display by Spain, and then again for the Canadian finale on Aug. 25.
